Founder & President
Dorothy Dobbie is the founder and president of Pegasus Publications Inc., publishers of the Local Gardener magazines, the Hub, Lifestyles 55, Smart Biz and several other directories and publications. She is a former member of Parliament (1988-1993) where she served as Parliamentary Secretary in several portfolios, chaired an important joint House Senate constitutional committee and spoke to the United Nations as part of her many duties. She hosts a popular weekly radio show, the Gardener, on 680 CJOB; produces a weekly e-newsletter called 10 Neat Things, is active on social media, through a blog, Twitter and as the manager of the Gardener Facebook pages. She also writes for her several publications. Mrs. Dobbie has a long record of community involvement having served as chair or on the executive of countless community and national boards. Most recently, she chaired the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra for five years. She currently serves as vice-president of Nostalgia Radio CJNU, is Finance chair of the Board of the International Peace Gardens, is a member of the Board of Tree Canada and serves on several other boards and committees. She is the recipient of several awards and medals, among them, the Queen’s Jubilee Medal, The Commemorative Medal for the 125th anniversary of the Confederation of Canada, the Distinguished Service Award from the Former Manitoba members of the Legislature, Outstanding Business Citizen of the Year from the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce and the Community Service Award of Winnipeg among other tributes and awards. Mrs. Dobbie has two married daughter and has been married to her husband Glenn for more than 50 years.
