City of Winnipeg
Councillor Daniel McIntyre

Cindy Gilroy is the City Councilor for the Daniel McIntyre Ward and is proud to be a life-long resident of Winnipeg’s West End. Cindy represents one of the most diverse communities in Canada. This diversity is reflected not only culturally, but socially and economically as well. Although there are challenges within her community, there are also many wonderful opportunities, people, and potential within this vibrant and unique part of Winnipeg. Cindy is a dedicated leader and advocates for people on issues pertaining to housing, safety, equality and poverty. As a poverty activist, she understands the importance of working together with other levels of government and the community to bring changes that impact the day-to-day wellbeing of individuals and families. Councillor Gilroy is currently a Chairperson of the Standing Policy Committee on Innovation, Chair of the Citizen Equity Committee and also sits on the Board of the Winnipeg Arts Council. She has participated in the Cool to be Kind campaign to engage our youth to be kind Winnipeggers’. However, her most passionate role is her appointment by the Mayor to the United Nations Women’s Safe Cities Global Initiative, which addresses the safety concerns of violence and sexual violence towards women in public spaces. Cindy is also very pleased to be City Of Winnipeg’s representative on the new Indigenous Advisory Circle working to build relationships and develop understanding between indigenous and non-indigenous citizens of Winnipeg.
