Brian Scharfstein is a Canadian Pedorthist specializing in care of the diabetic foot. He is the principal owner of Canadian Footwear and the FootHealth Centre in Winnipeg and Calgary. Brian's passion for footwear and foot care dates to his childhood as he grew up in the family footwear business. Brian has been able to take his skill and create the FootHealth Centre, a centre of excellence for the management of lower extremity problems in persons with all types of orthopedic, rheumatologic, and diabetic complications. Brian believes that no one should ever go without a shoe and has expanded the SOS Footwear project to include the "Fit Feet on the Street" program. Most of the footwear given away is done so on an individual basis. Brian is an active member of the community belonging to both the Winnipeg and Manitoba Chambers of Commerce. He is involved with Siloam Mission, and on the board of directors of Mount Carmel Clinic Foundation and Winnipeg Harvest.
Taking part in the CEO Sleepout is a sobering reminder of the realities happening in our city. Homelessness is part of our community make up. We need to embrace and be part of the solution. Everyone in the community needs to be aware and this is our opportunity as leaders to deliver the message.
